Coillte are the largest land owner in Ireland being the forestry commission and they own and manage around 200 structures on their property for use by telecoms operators and radio stations.
At Three Rock, the location is a very exposed and high site which required the design of a special design, heavy weight lattice tower which also encompassed ice protection due to its exposed location.
Delmec were awarded the design, the fabrication and also the supervision for the installation of this prestige site.
The site preparation was key to this design as the structure has a 19m wide footprint and required the ground clearance for the foundations with over 400 tonnes of materials clear for the footings.
Due to the size and nature of this tower design, Delmec also were commissioned to design and fabricate a specialist lifting beam, a cross formation spreading beam tested to over 12 tonnes so that whole panel sections could be lifted in to place to speed up the installation process.
This site will become one of the most heavily used in the country now that the capacity has been created by Delmec.
